RBT also addresses the needs of many pharmaceutical companies to fill their pipelines with new products and/or to extend the lifecycle of drugs which are nearing expiry of blockbuster patents. Emerging drug delivery technologies aim to improve measures of safety, efficacy, convenience and compliance in both new and existing drug candidates and products. New delivery technologies will extend the period of patent protection for reformulations of currently marketed products in chronic diseases where patient compliance surrounding dosing strategies and ease of administration limit market growth. In R&D pipelines, novel applications of delivery technologies will open the door to new methods of reformulating failed or discontinued drugs and elimination of unfavorable or toxic side effects.

The potential of RBT’s technology for cell-specific delivery of therapeutic agents will lead to treatment options that currently do not exist. By providing a targeted delivery mechanism for addressing antigen-presenting cells, RBT’s TargoSphere® technology offers the potential to maximize the efficacy of any agent that relies on being delivered to immune cells for achieving a therapeutic effect while minimizing the risk of harmful or debilitating side effects. The effectiveness of this methodology is expected to lead to a reduction in the frequency of dosaging as well as a concurrent increase in therapeutic success rates over extended time frames. This will also allow for an improved patient cost/benefit ratio and quality of life.
